OSHODI NETWORK OF ROADS: OGUNDIPE ASSURES RESIDENTS ON COMPLETION DATE

The lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, popularly known as Omoj’omolo, has reassured residents of four key roads within the constituency that the stipulated nine-month completion timeline for the ongoing road construction project remains sacrosanct.

Hon. Ogundipe gave this assurance while addressing residents and stakeholders during a follow-up engagement on the progress of the project, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work, which commenced barely three weeks after an initial stakeholders’ meeting.

The earlier meeting, held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his constituency office, brought together community leaders, residents, government representatives, and the project contractor to deliberate on the reconstruction of Alhaji Sokoya Street, Deji Adeoye Street, Baba Ode Street, and OluwaSanmi Street in Oshodi.

Speaking today during a stop over progress engagement, Hon. Ogundipe emphasized his constitutional responsibility as a lawmaker to facilitate development and advocate for the needs of his constituents.

“As your representative, my primary responsibility is to ensure that the needs of our people are consistently brought to the attention of the appropriate government agencies. This project is a product of your persistent requests and our collective resolve to see Oshodi-Isolo develop in line with modern standards,” he said.

He further explained that securing the project required sustained lobbying and strategic engagement within government circles, noting that such efforts are often more challenging for first-term lawmakers.

“Attracting projects of this magnitude requires enormous lobbying and persistence. For a first-time legislator, it is not always easy, but we are making steady progress. It will certainly get better as we gain more experience and ranking in the House. I therefore urge everyone to remain supportive so we can attract even more developmental projects to our constituency,” he added.

Hon. Ogundipe disclosed that the road project was initiated following repeated appeals from residents of the affected streets, which he formally presented to the Lagos State Government. According to him, the request was forwarded to the Office of Infrastructure under the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, which approved the project as part of the state’s broader infrastructural development agenda.

Reaffirming his commitment to the people, the lawmaker assured residents that their interests would continue to be protected throughout the execution of the project.

“This project belongs to the people. I will continue to monitor its progress and ensure that your concerns are addressed at every stage. We are determined to deliver a road network that meets the highest standards,” he assured.

While acknowledging that construction activities may temporarily disrupt movement and daily routines within the community, Hon. Ogundipe appealed for patience and cooperation from residents.

“I understand that there will be some level of inconvenience during this period, but I appeal to you all to cooperate with the contractors. The long-term benefits improved mobility, better drainage, enhanced safety, and increased property value, will far outweigh the temporary discomfort,” he noted.

Providing technical insights into the project, the representative of the Office of Infrastructure, Engr. Akeem Salau, gave a detailed breakdown of the construction plan in the presence of the contractor.

According to him, the project adheres strictly to Lagos State Government specifications and standards.

“This is a standard Lagos State Government project. The roads will be constructed to a width of 7.5 metres and will include concrete drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, piping setbacks, and streetlights across all four road networks. We appreciate Hon. Ogundipe for facilitating this important development in the constituency,” Engr. Salau stated.

Residents who spoke during the engagement expressed their appreciation to Hon. Ogundipe and the Lagos State Government for responding to their long-standing infrastructural needs. They noted that the project would significantly improve accessibility, address flooding challenges, and stimulate socio-economic activities within the area.

The community members also pledged their full support for the successful execution of the project, assuring the contractor and project team of maximum cooperation throughout the construction period.

Furthermore, the project team reiterated its commitment to maintaining open communication with residents, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustained collaboration as work progresses on the Oshodi network of roads.
