OGUNDIPE URGES AGEGE RESIDENTS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF COMMUNITY SECURITY

  The Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information Strategy and Security, Hon. Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe, has called for stronger collaboration between government, security agencies and residents to tackle security challenges in Agege Local Government. Ogundipe, who represents Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01, made the call while speaking as Guest Speaker at the maiden Agege Security Summit, attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, youths and other stakeholders. Speaking on the theme, “Secure the Unsecured: Empowering Local Communities to Own Their Safety,” the lawmaker said security should no longer be regarded as the sole responsibility of government and security agencies. PROF OLOYEDE ADVOCATES LEGAL REFORM TO ADDRESS EMERGING REALITIES IN FETAL MEDICINE

  A Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Prof. Olufemi Adebari Oluwatoyin Oloyede, has called for a review of Nigeria’s abortion laws to address emerging realities in fetal medicine and better recognise the medical interests of unborn children. Oloyede, a Professor of Fetal Medicine and Genetics at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, made the call while delivering the university’s 130th Inaugural Lecture, titled “To Live or Not to Live: Navigating Ethical Dilemmas in Fetal Medicine,” at the OGD Lecture Theatre, OOU Main Campus, Ogun State. The lecture, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, examined the increasingly complex intersection of medicine, law and ethics as advances in prenatal diagnosis enable doctors to detect serious fetal abnormalities before birth. Lagos Flood Control: Govt Deploys Swamp Buggy To Ogombo, Awoyaya, Iponri As Rain Persists

Residents Hail Wahab, Say "This Is Government That Works" The Lagos State Government has moved another heavy machine into the fight against flooding, deploying a new swamp buggy to Ogombo Canal, Awoyaya two communities that bore the brunt of recent heavy downpours in Eti-Osa LGA, and Iponri in Surulere Local Government area of the state. The ministry has also moved machines to Gbetu/Iwerekun at the back of Mayfair Garden in Ajah area of the state. The equipment will reinforce ongoing desilting and channelisation works aimed at widening and deepening drainage networks to allow storm water to flow freely and recede faster. The ministry promised to move  machines to all the local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. OPERATION "KOSAYE" YIELDS RESULTS AS POLICE ARREST 88 SUSPECTS, RESCUE 5 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS  Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has hailed security agencies on the ongoing “massive onslaught “ against criminals.  Operation "Kosaye", coordinated security crackdown across Ogun and Lagos states, has yielded remarkable results:  . 88 suspects arrested;four dead in gun duel with operatives;  . five kidnap victims rescued; and  . cache of arms and ammunition      recovered. “We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.  “We appreciate the huge efforts of the police as directed by Inspector-General Tunji Disu, in arresting the suspects and the co-operation of our neighbors, Ogun State.
