LAGOS ASSEMBLY EXTOLS THE VIRTUE OF LATE OSHODI ISOLO COUNCIL BOSS, PRINCE AINA
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to the late Prince Samuel Omotesho Aina, former Executive Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, who passed on after a protracted illness.
Rising under personal explanation, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01, moved a motion of condolence to the people of Oshodi/Isolo over the demise of the respected grassroots leader.
Hon. Ogundipe described the late Prince Aina as “a gentle and kind-hearted leader, a lover of peace, and a true believer in development.” He noted that Prince Aina’s tenure as council boss at the dawn of the Fourth Republic in 1998 under the Alliance for Democracy left an enduring mark on the community.
“The landmark project he initiated, the present edifice that houses the Local Government Secretariat, stands tall as a testimony to his vision, foresight, and enduring legacy,” Hon. Ogundipe stated.
Lawmakers across party lines extolled his civic leadership, with particular reference to his integrity and commitment to public service.
Presiding over the plenary, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the House, recalled personal encounters with the late council boss during his days as Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts. He described Prince Aina as “a man of integrity who was upright and diligent in handling public funds entrusted to his care.”
The Assembly observed a solemn minute of silence in his honour and resolved to transmit a formal letter of condolence to the family of the late Prince Aina, who served as Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government between 1999 and 2003.

In another motion, Hon. Ajomale Oladipupo moved for the House to felicitate Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the occasion of her 65th birthday.
Members lauded her distinguished legislative record, sustained advocacy for the vulnerable, and impactful service to national development. The Speaker described her as “a woman of substance and virtue whose public service remains exemplary,” highlighting her leadership of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) and her pioneering One-Day Governor initiative for youth engagement.
Health and Welfare Advisory
The Speaker further urged public office holders to prioritise their health and wellness, citing recent deaths among newly elected councillors. He emphasized that effective governance depends on the well-being of leaders who serve the people.
