OGUNLENDE HAS TOUCHED OVER 15,000 YOUTHS IN THE LAST 6 YEARS THROUGH BDFA-RAK LEAGUE – BDFA CHAIRMAN

As we build up to today’s Badagry Division Football Association (BDFA-RAK) League final between Chekas Utd FC and Young Stars FC, it’s worth reflecting on the remarkable impact Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende has made through his Real Acts of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation.

We caught up with a buzzing Dr. Osondu Martins Ibegbu, Chairman of the Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA), who was charged for the crunch tie ahead. He passionately remarked, “Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende has transformed a forest into a city due to his productive lifestyle through his RAK Foundation.”

Dr. Osondu went on to highlight the profound impact of Ogunlende’s initiatives on the local community. “The Badagry Divisional Football Association has benefited greatly from this great project, creating an enabling environment for our children and youth to get engaged through sports in the division for the past 6 years consistently,” he said. Dr. Osondu emphasized that this ongoing commitment has provided over 15,000 youths from the Badagry Division with opportunities to thrive and develop their talents.

Over the past six years, the BDFA-RAK League has grown into more than just a sporting event; it’s become a critical platform for the engagement and development of these young people across the Badagry Division. This initiative, powered by Hon. Ogunlende’s vision, aligns closely with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

– SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being: The league promotes physical activity and healthy competition, contributing significantly to the well-being of the youth in the community.

– SDG 4: Quality Education: Beyond the pitch, the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance fostered by the league play a crucial role in the educational and personal growth of the participants.

– SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities: By providing equal access to sports and opportunities for all, the BDFA-RAK League helps to bridge social gaps and foster inclusivity.

– SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: Hon. Ogunlende’s efforts have transformed underutilized spaces into vibrant hubs of activity, contributing to the sustainability and vitality of the community.

Reflecting on the broader impact, Dr. Ibegbu added, “We can’t thank him enough, and we will forever be indebted to him for this development it has brought to our division.”

This year’s BDFA-RAK League has seen the participation of 67 teams from across the Badagry Division, representing various Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), including Badagry LG, Ojo LG, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG, Amuwo-Odofin LG, Iba LCDA, Oto-Awori LCDA, Olorunda LCDA, Badagry-West LCDA, Oriade LCDA, and Ifelodun LCDA.

As the final clash between Chekas Utd FC and Young Stars FC approaches, excitement is at an all-time high. The BDFA-RAK League has come to symbolize more than just competition; it embodies the spirit of community, development, and the powerful impact of kindness-driven initiatives.

In Dr. Osondu’s words, “Today’s final isn’t just about crowning the 2024 champion-it’s a celebration of what has been achieved through collective effort, vision, and a shared commitment to the future of our youth.”
