LAGOS SPEAKER OBASA, OGUNDIPE, LAWMAKERS ATTEND U.S. LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE TO STRENGTHEN GOVERNANCE AND LAWMAKING*
As part of sustained efforts to deepen legislative capacity, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote good governance, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, alongside members of the Assembly, including the Honourable Member representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency-01, Hon. Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe, are currently participating in the 2026 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) holding in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.
The high-profile international conference, taking place from 27th to 29th July 2026, has attracted legislators, policy experts, governance practitioners, and public sector leaders from across the world to deliberate on emerging policy issues, exchange legislative experiences, and explore innovative approaches to effective governance and lawmaking.
The conference provides a unique platform for lawmakers to share global best practices, examine contemporary legislative challenges, and build strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and improving public service delivery.
Speaking on the significance of the conference, Hon. Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe, who also serves as the Spokesperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly, described the Assembly's participation as a demonstration of its unwavering commitment to institutional development, continuous learning, and the adoption of global best practices that will further enhance legislative performance in Lagos State.
According to him:

Hon. Ogundipe noted that the exposure and interactions at the conference would further equip lawmakers with contemporary knowledge and practical insights needed to deliver responsive legislation and strengthen oversight responsibilities in line with international standards.
He expressed confidence that the knowledge acquired from the conference would significantly enrich legislative activities in Lagos State and contribute meaningfully to policies that promote sustainable development and improved service delivery.
